Title:Promises (Appleblim & Peverelist Remix)
Label:Blank Tapes
Late November sees the release of the new single by Bass Clef, 'Promises', taken from his critically-acclaimed second album 'May The Bridges I Burn Light The Way'). Available only for a short time as a strictly-limited white label pressing, the single's lead side is a beautiful remix by two heavyweight bass music pioneers ; Appleblim (co-founder of Skull Disco, head of Applepips) and Peverelist (owner of legendary Bristol label Punch Drunk). Together they take 'Promises' into a wonderful six-minute stepper-haze somewhere between Berlin and Bristol, with a deeper-than-deep sub bass, anchored underneath dubbed-out piano and vocal, and a euphoric synth floating through it all. The original album version appears on the flipside, itself a euphorically elastic yet still hauntingly melancholic stand-out track that picked up the lion's share of radio and club play when 'May The Bridges...' was first released late last year, most noteably from Huw Edwards (BBC R1) and Tom Robinson (BBC R6).

Title:Illy / Tehran
Label:Punch Drunk
Kahn blazed his way in to the consciousness of the UK underground back in February this year with his debut release for Punch Drunk. His new 12" marks a return to the label, fully asserting his position at the forefront of Bristol's new generation of producers. Lead track Illy lures you with it's colourful immediacy, before torpedoing you headfirst in to a torrent of tumultuous bass and psychedelic riffing. Flipside, Tehran takes you a straight back to the old school of heavyweight subsonic steppers. Immersive. Stripped. Deadly. Powerful ammunition direct to the front of your record crate.
