Jalapeno welcomes into the fold a producer we have long admired - Scott Hendy AKA Boca 45. A true legend on the decks and in the studio Boca starts his Jalapeno career with a 7 track EP titled Bombonera Sounds. The EP veers from crunked out beats and speaker threatening basslines through upbeat funk breaks business all the way to spyfunk, psychedelically skewed Motown beats and wigged out lounge grooves all with a healthy dose of hip hop thrown into the mix. This will be released digitally alongside this 7inch for the vinyl heads. This valuable addition to the J Funk family is back in the fold of beatmaking after taking time out to produce and steer his critically acclaimed Malakai project. As well as his own work he is also known for his Dynamo Productions alias - a collaboration with the legendary Andy Smith.

All conquering live funk band The Apples have a secret that is about to become very well known. Radiotrip is the studio project of two of their founding members MixMonster (Uri Wertheim) and Schoolmaster (Ofer Tal). Their wide range of influences led them to create a unique musical blend unconstrained by anything except their imaginations. Music Heads is the second album from Radiotrip a project that preceded the international fame of the Apples. "Computers Singing" is the six track EP to precede their second album "Music Heads", which contains elements of Turntabalism, blues, jazzed--p breaks, Funk beats and psychedelic samples. A journey into vinyl culture with hundreds of records from various countries and eras cut & paste into one blossoming, cheerful trip. The six tracks on the EP are the most dancefloor friendly cuts from the album and include a special "samples & sounds" track where the boys very kindly give up their samples for the greater good of their fellow turntablists.

Already establishing their credentials as a legendary partnership of vocals with productions skills, Smoove & Turrell are ready to make the jump from up and coming to all conquering. Their first single brought the then-unknown duo from anonymity to being Radio 2 favourites in just a few short weeks. Muso DJ's such as Mark Lamarr, Craig Charles, Marc Radcliffe, Janice Long and Stuart Maconie all jumped on the exuberant northern soul that was "I Can't Give You Up." So the only question Do the boys have more tunes as good as the first? The answer a resounding yes. "You Don't Know" is a beautiful song with a driving beat. Like the best soul records the music is uplifting while the subject matter is melancholy. In a word? it's a classic. Sampling an obscure Lynsey De Paul record from the 70's would normally be a big issue for a band without a big label or a heavyweight lawyer but not so in this case. When Lynsey heard the record she loved how they had used her music and intervened directly with her record company and publishers to make sure the deal happened. The result is worth the effort. Mixes come from dutch electronic funkers Kraak & Smaak and Good Groove breakbeat legend Featurecast.

The Beekeepers are the latest signing to the J-Funk family joining Kraak & Smaak, Skeewiff, Smoove & Turrell, Dr Rubberfunk, Soopasoul, Max Sedgley and All Good Funk Alliance on the Jalapeno roster.

With stable-mates like that there was only one way the Bee-Funk EP was gonna go - a mixture of upfront party breakbeat hip-hop and one of the most beautifully widescreen ambient breakbeat tracks since Clubbed to Death.

The producers behind the project are Bristol bad boys Boca 45 and Parker - each with their own stunning pedigree - Boca as the man behind Dynamo Productions and Zane Lowe favourites Malakai and Parker as one of the main producers for hotshot re-edits label Goodgrooves.

Lead track Spelling Bee features an uptempo old school rap from New York MC Emskee but tears along in fine style in its brass and bass wobble instrumental version also. Transcript is a full fat funky breakbeat number for the clubs. To The Roots is an upbeat soulful club cut, while Symphony In Bee is that rarest of things - a breakbeat cut that could have a festival crowd aglow and would still sound right in a chillout set. The best strings we've heard in years make this track stand out from the crowd - big time.

BAM ! POW ?!! and other comic book type exclamations meet the news that one of the baddest brothers on the breaks and bass scene has put pen to paper and signed to Jalapeno Records.

Featurecast (Lee Mintram to his mum) has an album on the way with a serious seasoning of top vocalists including Greg Blackman (a mainstay of the album), high flying UK bluesman John Turrell, Hospital Records D&B vocalist of choice Pat Fulgoni, plus MC Alaska, C Reid and Pugz Atom dropping urban science whenever and wherever required.

Prior to signing to Jalapeno, Featurecast has released on a variety of happening labels like Bomb Strikes, Good Groove and Catskills as well as Funk Weapons in the US and the burgeoning Ghetto Funk label in the UK. One of his early productions was even snapped up by Apple to promote the IPOD ' yep those ads with the silhouettes dancing round ' that was our boy.

His DJ sets are the stuff of legend and he regularly tours North America and Australia where his brand of bass fuelled turntablism is in serious demand. Featurecast has crafted his own unique sound combining amazing pinpoint scratching whilst effortlessly cutting between Funk, Hip-Hop, Breaks, Dubstep and Drum & Bass. He's dazzled the crowds of some of the biggest festivals and venues around the globe with Canada's legendary Shambhala festival being the scene of one of his biggest triumphs.

Featurecast has shared productions duties on previous releases with legends of the bass scene like Krafty Kuts and house heavyweight James Zabiela (who credits Lee with teaching him to scratch) as well as remixing everyone from Aretha Franklin to Finley Quaye.

Basically his whole life has been building towards this album and now his time has come.

First out of the gates from the new material is 'Around The Block EP'. A big beating, ghetto funkin' bad ass slice of bass and breaks business.

Lead track Around The Block features MC Alaska who is fresh from a hot collaboration with The Freestylers. C. Reid provides the science on two more tracks while soul man Greg Blackman rounds the ep off in style, already picking up radio plaudits from Craig Charles on his 6 Music Funk show for this track.
