Description of ASM Root To The Fruit

The first single from new signings ASM is a fantastic 45 featuring a couple of top-drawer collabs. ASM have come to prominence as the MCs of choice for French super-producer Wax Tailor, regularly playing to crowds of several thousand as part of his live show. Root To The Fruit features Lootpack member and Stones Throw stalwart Wildchild. Over a sun-drenched reggae / hip hop beat, he trades rhymes with ASM mcs Green T & FP. Definitely one for the summers festivals. On the flip its another big collab in the shape of Brand Nubians Sadat X. Certified Organic is another floor-friendly party hip hop track in a Ugly Duckling / De La Soul style. Look out for the new album later this month featuring DJ Vadim, Bonobo, kidkanevil, Warrior Queen and more

Title:Le Monde EP
Label:First Word Records
First Word are back with another banging release, this time from the first international signing to First Word, Souleance, live and direct from Paris. SOULEANCE is the result of the partnership between producer Fulgeance and DJ Soulist of What The Funk.Fulgeance has been building a reputation in the beats scene with his awesome releases on the French label Musique Large. Leading and managing several projects (Peter Digital Orchestra and Connecticut), this talented producer and remixer is well known for his devastating beats and stunning live performances. Focused on hypnotic and electronic Hip Hop, Fulgeance subtly mixes his influences to create his signature "Low Club" groove, (Low Club Anthem being the lead track on his last Musique Large EP).Soulist, the French funky president, is the founder and resident DJ of Paris clubnight What the Funk, which recently celebrated its sixth birthday. A man with an obsession for Disco, Soul, Funk, Hip Hop and Latin, he's shared a stage with some of the biggest names in the worldwide scene including Cut Chemist, Keb Darge, DJ Vadim, Quantic, DJ Numark, Dudley Perkins, Madlib and Pilooski.Soulist and Flugeance met in 2006 while performing and from that friendship the Souleance project was born: a mixture of Soulist's organic influences and the raw energy and production skill of Fulgeance. The EP covers many genres, taking in Hip Hop (Manana), Breaks (Le Monde and One Step) and even the funkier end of the 80s (Cool FM ). Already receiving radio support from Gilles Peterson on BBC Radio One (Manana is currently featured on his myspace player), the Le Monde EP is the first of many massive releases from thus talented duo.

Title:Ain't Nobody
Label:First Word Records
Everybody loves Ain't Nobody. The Rufus and Chaka Khan track is a timeless classic that never fails to smash a dancefloor. Quincy Jones originally wanted the track for Michael Jackson's Thriller album, but luckily for us all Chaka kept it for herself and now, even better, Jack & Juke have turned it into the summer anthem of 2010 featuring the wonderful voice of Bassment Jaxx's front woman Sharlene Hector. In a Prince styled turn around producers 'TM Juke and the Jack Baker Trio' have changed their name to 'Jack & Juke'. With the name change came a transformation in their music. Already with an album of energetic percussive lead tunes, they both thought it was time to get dirty, and that's exactly what they have done with this cover.

Title:Le Plaisir / Chemise
Label:First Word Records
Souleance are back with their second single on First Word. After the massive success of their debut Le Monde EP, the French duo of DJ Soulist (What The Funk) and producer Fulgeance (Musique Large / Peter Digital Orchestra / One-Handed) have crafted one of the first must-have releases of 2010.

Kicking off with ear-catching horn stabs before dropping in to an insanely catchy synth-led groove, Le Plaisir is trademark Souleance tackle - guaranteed to have the floor rocking. Chemise continues in the vein of One Step (a favorite from the Le Monde EP), re-editing a classic tune and adding the classic Souleance touch. This tune takes a familiar eighties disco / boogie favorite, beefing up the drums and creating another instant slice of dancefloor dynamite.

Souleance will be back later this year with their debut album. With a growing legion of fans including Gilles Peterson (who picked their track Manana for his Brownswood Bubblers compilation) and Radio Nova (France) who have booked the duo to play at their prestigious Nuitz Zebrees event in December, 2010 is gonna be big for Souleance.
