"Highly personal, but totally accessible, it is filmic music that tugs at the heartstrings, often melancholic and reflective, often carefree and joyous, but never anything other than totally fresh, unique and inspiring, and a natural soundtrack to life." - Pete Lawrence, Big Chill co-founder.

Title:Totems Flare
Label:Warp
Warp rising star Clark's breakneck breakthrough new album. Chris Clark unleashes his boldest album yet, a mesh of breakneck dance music, baroque melodics and driving techno. It's also the first album to feature Chris' vocals. The album was preceded by the 'Growls Garden' EP, which was released in March to critical acclaim, and fans appetites have been whetted with the title track from that EP, which was given away free and is also on the album.

Title:Werk One
Label:Werk Discs
Debuting in summer 2004, Werk carefully selected an array of unkown talent with which to launch their first assalut on record buying senses. Mixing a blend of influences from London grimey business through to Detroit beat-driven technoid re-constructions, electroid mayhem, nervously modified break mashups and padded bass-stab devastation - marvel at the wondrous cut-ups of Actress (the sound of Robocop's anaerobic workout routine on crack), Byte Stripes (a media revolution via the medium of 10/8 jungle - killerstyles), Ben Codec (algorhythms on toast and ash-tray muesli bezerkerisms), Cut Out (genetically modified fidget-hop), Mr. Lizard (made from a sample patch based on the contours of Noel Edmonds' mullet!) and Format.K (tonic for the anguish of a thousand ecstasy-ravaged bird-brains). A record with a beginning, middle, an end and even a nervous breakdown.

Title:C64 Dub / Waveshifter
Label:Wax On
This strictly limited double A side 10inch is the second offering from Alan Dobson aka HUNGRYGHOST, WAX ON records very own master of predator sound. Futuristic dubstep vibes meet the dopest, hip hop infused beats and a grimey urban sound design of unique quality sure to haunt a bass bin next to you very soon. Following up on the vibes of the much demanded digital two-tracker 'Waveshifter' (which got mad props from the worldwide dubstep massive as well as the mighty GORILLAZ soundsystem, Domu, Smith & Mighty and Mr. Scruff) and HUNGRYGHOST's wicked remix work for NIGHTMARES ON WAX on Warp earlier this year, this 10inch now unites the powerful lead tracks of both 'Waveshifter' and the lead tracks from the 2nd HUNGRYGHOST digital single 'C64 Dub'. HUNGRYGHOST himself, Norfolk-born and now London resident by choice, former member of scratch dj / production team Def Tex, also releases tunes under the ARCADION moniker (on DC recordings) and works as a freelance multi media sound designer. The sonic world of HUNGRYGHOST is fueled by a deep fascination with computer technology and sampling culture.
Artist:Keaver & Brause
Title:The Middle Way
Label:Dealmaker Records
After the release of the critically acclaimed 'Lemurian' by Lone, Dealmaker decided it was best to wait until they discovered an artist that was equal or better then what had come before. Now is that time and they're proud to introduce Keaver & Brause. For better or worse, Tom Keaver and Tom Brause probably have more to do with introducing the beat into beat music than anyone else. Keaver is a veteran of the Ceder studio system, known as a sound effects man but in fact, something of an innovator in electronic music. Brause, a dozen years younger and looking like a baby, has moved from Worksop to Berlin to London to Nottingham, working as a folk singer, and session musician, and is becoming more and more interested in beat sculpting. Their debut album 'The Middle Way' twists a broad spectrum of elements to create hip hop founded electronics that relish the use of hazy samples and spiraling rhythms. Landing somewhere between Dabrye, Lukid and BOC, 'The Middle Way' is drenched in the sound of a youth spent locked in the studio - crafting the kind of intricately plotted instrumentals that unfold with textured detail, yet never hurry their slow-burn predilection. Alongside the likes of Lone, Paul White and Bullion, Keaver & Brause are at the vanguard of new producers aiming to snap your neck through persuasion over precision.
Artist:Prefuse 73
Title:The Forest Of Oversensitivity
Label:Warp
Prefuse 73 (aka Guillermo Scott Herren) is one of the most renowned producers around today. Ten Letters (CD + DVD) front
Artist:Spyweirdos
Title:Ten Letters (CD + DVD)
Label:Creative Space

Spyros Polychronopoulos aka Spyweirdos is arguably the best known contemporary Greek experimental electronic producer, with five previous albums to his name since 2003, who has collaborated with or been remixed by some of today's most important sound artists, including Alva Noto, Funckarma, Octex, Hecq, B. Fleischmann, Ollie Olsen, Traject, and Murcof. At present he is completing a PhD on acoustics and noise control. 'Ten Letters' is the follow up to last year's thematically-related 'Ten Numbers', itself an album based on field recordings with very tense parts. 'Ten Letters' is his most abstract work by far with distorted fields and high frequencies creating the melodic elements, taking the pair of "Ten" concept recordings on to a different level.

Also included is a DVD of 10 short films created to accompany the respective CD tracks, in the same mood as the audio with abstract layers and landscapes building geometrical shapes.

In parallel with 'Ten Numbers', 'Ten Letters' develops emotional sonic landscapes from a combination of minimal glitch electronica and acoustic instrumentation, eschewing Spyweirdos' previous flirtation with 4x4 beats and minimal techno, and instead focussing on depth of sound and atmosphere with smart transitions from acoustic to electronic sound collages. This marriage of acoustic and digital electronic takes place with extreme virtuosity, with the result being full of contradictions, bringing in mind the transition between day and night, hope and desperation, something obvious also through the videos which oscillate between black and white, light and darkness. The landscape is at times familiar, at others unknown and distant, a point where past and future meet... a most mature work, taking the listener through paths which lead sometimes to the sentimentality of electronica, and at others to the awe of academic electroacoustic music. Post-production by Murcof.

Birting front
Artist:Traject
Title:Birting
Label:Creative Space
Traject is the working name of Icelandic minimal ambient techno and electroacoustic experimental composer Gisli Thor Gudmundsson, whose only previous solo release was the 2004 mini-album 'Strengir Hrynja' on Zurich label spezial material, a record which won favourable comparisons to Autechre, Gescom and Ken Ishii. Igloo Magazine described Traject's work as "slow dancing to geological time shifts where epochs are compressed down into sonic history lessons and the pop and click of shifting rock evolves alongside the hiss and hum of changing weather and lunar wave patterns", while The Wire said "this superb debut is a small masterpiece of abstract, deep sea techno, recalling the golden moments of 90s Intelligent Dance Music... there's an immense sonic depth and range on display in these pieces, a hyperreal opulence that makes for an experience almost too delicous to indulge in without feeling guilty. Now joining Ceative Space, his first full album is one of the most ambitious releases yet for the adventurous Athenean label. Offering 14 tracks of ice cold electronics, ritualistic ambient techno and obscure rhythmical experiments, 'Birting' is seriously some of the most epically impressive left-field electronica to be heard in recent years.

Title:Sound System White Noise
Label:Big Toe's Hi-Fi
Yet more first rate digital bass sounds incoming, this time courtesy of Edinburgh's Big Toe's Hi-Fi crew. The original version is an old-school hip hop inspired soundsystem swinger, with a sweet vocal from Leeds legend Danny Diamond winding up over C-Biscuit's minimalist booming bass production. A proper rootical ticklah for all fans of the Jahtari and Scotch Bonnet labels. On the Addicted To The Bass version, C-Biscuit picks up the crumbs for a radical remix with Edinburgh's own bass baker Neil Landstrumm riding shotgun. Danny's vocals are covered in thick chocolate and the low end levels get rough through a Space Echo unit to create a special recipe of haunted dancehall jammin' for the 09. Now in full national distribution through Cargo, this heavy 7" has already been doing the rounds for a few weeks, with airplay on Vic Galloway's Radio One Scotland show, nuff internet station exposure, and positive DJ feedback from Kode 9, Disrupt, Mungo's Hi-Fi, Adrian Sherwood, Andrew Weatherall, Toddla T, Youngsta, Rob Da Bank, and more.
Artist:Lone
Title:Joy Reel / Sunset Teens

Lone brings us 2 corkers on the 'Werks Disc's' series, hazy medoic tones with a hip bop beat, this is a must for fans of the electonic sounds that are remanisant of the mighty BoC.
Artist:Kid 606
Title:Shout At The Doner
Label:Very Friendly
Easily Kid606's most accomplished record to date, 'Shout At The Doner' combines all the brash and exciting plunderphonic and sampledelic elements he is best known for with a whole new world of uncharacteristically musical and danceable hooks and styles which are both fresh and timeless. 606 draws on some of his biggest electronic influences like LFO, AFX, Mike Ink, Green Velvet, Mouse on Mars, The Prodigy, Daft Punk, Shizuo, Mr. Oizo and Giorgio Moroder, to make bold and powerful songs about... the decline of America, leaving California, broken hearts, drunken hook-ups, social phobias, soulless partying, economic downfall, gnarly basslines, ego worship, moving to Berlin, diva vocals, Baltimore Club, obsessive compulsive disorder, the best parts of horror movies, acidhouse, ADHD, shameless irony, speed garage, megalomania, LSD, satanism and the ever prevalent doner kebab, arguably Europe's best late night cuisine. We think this release is the Kid's first successful stab at what we like to call "schizotronics" actually combining elements of many different dance music styles into new songs without pretension, trying too hard to fit into any trendy genre, or losing the joy and energy of the driving beats and basslines that make music so much fun in the first place. Maybe it's intelligent dance music for people who thought they didnt like intelligent dance music, maybe it's unintelligent vacant technopunk trash. Kid606 is headlining the Overkill stage on July 18th at Glade 2009, as well as playing clubs and festivals across Europe, UK, Japan, China and Australia all year long.
Artist:Blu Mar Ten
Title:Blackwater
Label:Exceptional Records
LIMITED RE-PRESS. Blu Mar Ten have been widely acknowledged and respected since their early releases on Good Looking and occupy a unique position being considered Kings of Chill Out and Dons of the Drum and Bass scene all at the same time. Fully paid up members of the Blu Mar Ten fan club include Ben Watt, Tom Middleton (who included 'All Over Again' on his compilation for Renaissance - One More Tune), Pete Lawrence, Doc Scott and Teebee. 'If this was a soundtrack then the movie directors would be spielberg, ridley scott and ang lee! Epic and intense with visually stunning and deeply moving scenes.' Tom Middleton

Title:Beat Dispenser
Label:Keep Up!
Following the success of their previous three releases, Keep Up! spring into Summer 2009 with Beat Dispenser, the first full release from Paraguayan funksters Lopez. After winning fans around the world with their past output, which include last years sleeper smash Barrio, Beat Dispenser sees Lopez toning down the Latin flavour, and flexing their production muscles to deliver a wonderfully layered and lush sounding five track EP of 80s influenced synth-based hip hop (think Dam-Funk meets Danny Breaks). Swinging between the downtempo stylings of Music, the plodding basslines of Mulato and the sharp stabs of head nodder Theo's Beat, the EP's centrepiece is the synth ripping, vocoder beating Jellybean, leaving you unsure whether you should be bumping and grinding or breaking out your best moves on the lino. This confusion doesn't last long, once long time Keep Up! friend and Tru Thoughts wonder Hint interrupts proceedings with his remix of Jellybean, ramping up the two step drums, and leaving the dancefloor shaking from the reworked bassline.
Artist:Cathode
Title:Sparkle Plenty
Label:Expanding
Sparkle Plenty' is the second album from Cathode, whose debut 'Special Measures' was released on Expanding in 2004 following earlier output on Static Caravan and 555. 'Special Measures' was acclaimed for its winning combination of precision-glitch electronics and a warm melodic sensibility, neatly summed up by the London Metro paper as "a moody, melodic soundscape of carefully controlled clicks, beats and bleeps, producing a crescendo of beautifully blended electronic rhythms ... a sound as emotive as it is creative". 'Sparkle Plenty' finds Cathode coupling the precision and warmth of the debut with a richer sonic palette - for instance, the skittering improv percussion of 'Dream Feeder', the strings, flutes and piano of 'Without Memory Or Desire', or the battered acoustic guitar and ticking clocks of 'Nightly Builds'. Album centrepiece 'Structure Hunger' is a juddering serialist-krautrock wonder, which has its origins in a collaborative project with film-maker Adam Finlay at Newcastle's Tyneside Cinema to provide new soundtracks to a batch of vintage colour-saturated summertime movies. Along with remixing Bauri and d_radio, and recording a 7-inch for Newcastle's Distraction label, Cathode has been spending his time since the release of 'Special Measures' working on other music and film projects. These include membership of The Matinee Orchestra (Tyneside's pastoral-acoustic ensemble who released an acclaimed debut album on Isan's Arable label), and the Warm Digits, a guitar-noise/electronics/free-improvisation project. Cathode's day job as a clinical psychologist has some oblique influences on the new record. "Sparkle Plenty" is a phrase used in infant development to describe the behaviour of children who use activity and excitement to masks a lonelier emotional state. As such, it's an apposite title for the record; Cathode's music has always been unashamedly about creating something beautiful, which acts to sweeten something that's much more melancholy underneath.
Artist:Various Production vs Pumajaw
Title:Buds
Label:Fire
Next in the Various Production vs Fire Records programme comes another 7-inch, with VP reworking the majestic 'Buds' from Pumajaw's latest album 'Curiosity Box', which was described in Time Out's 5-star review as "eerie, wyrd-folk and psych-rock with a chimeric, almost shamanistic power". Pinkie Maclure and John Will, aka Pumajaw, combine Pinkie's unique, multi-octave voice with looped guitar, mandolin, samples, concertina and hypnotic rhythms. Their own seductive sound stretches from psychedelic pop through sultry folk songs to eerie, cacophonous, trance-inducing laments. Live, they can create a surprisingly big racket for two people and have a reputation for taking the music into sonically adventurous realms of animalistic, ritualistic intensity. With that in mind, they make ideal candidates for the patented VP touch, and this makeover does not disappoint, stretching the harmonium drone of the original track into a low trance that sounds like a lost passage from 4AD's late 80s This Mortal Coil albums. Simultaneously an enhancement of and departure from Pumajaw's source material, this is further evidence of Various Productions' instinctive rewiring technique and another buy-on-sight release for their legion of followers. Bespoke Bonesy artwork completes the package.
Artist:Animals On Wheels
Title:Dummy
Label:La Madame Avec Le Chien
After almost ten years of silence, ex-Ninja Tune allstar Animals On Wheels is back, on new Belgian imprint La Madame Avec Le Chien, with a none-more-fresh five track EP of the finest IDM-flavoured bass weight, twisting and abusing dubstep templates in a variety of experimental constructions. Opener 'Ball' is - relatively speaking - the most direct of the quintet, with complex rhythms clicking and chattering through growling sub-bass swells and glitch-laden breakdowns, Not exactly a straight ahead dancefloor track, its hard beats still provoke a certain jerky physical impulse. 'Seeing In The Dark' and 'Nonturn' both then further explore the possibilities of ultra-low frequencies as a backdrop to refined electronic edits, before the b-side commences with the ominous 'Dummy', which uses foundation-troubling bass to set the tone for a metallic and chilling six minute deep-space horror soundtrack. Signalling the end of the trip, 'Gloat' ebbs and flows and bursts and decays like an abstract free jazz reconstruction of randomised elements of the preceeding four tracks, picked apart and put back together by a troubled mind intent on troubling others. An extraordinary 26 minute journey though dark and uncharted bass zones, limited to 500 copies in stylish thick card jacket.
Artist:Fridge
Title:Early Output
Label:Temporary Residence Ltd
For most bands, two years is maybe just enough time to write, record and release an album. For Fridge, their first two years as a group saw them self-producing nearly 50 tracks spread over two full-length albums and half a dozen singles and EPs. Released on Trevor Jackson's fledgling Output Recordings, Fridge's music playfully skated all over the musical map, jumping from bashing lo-fi punk to sublime expanses of downtempo dance with equal enthusiasm. Always produced by the band at home (and often mixed directly to cassette), Fridge's early output drew much fanfare, sparking an unlikely major label bidding war for their follow-up, the exquisite, densely-layered 'Eph'. With Output Recordings now defunct, and Fridge having spawned no less than three successful side-projects (most notably Four Tet, Adem and Kieran Hebden's collaborations with jazz legend Steve Reid), 'Early Output 1996-1998' is a band-curated collection of the most memorable tracks from those wildly prolific early years, including six previously unreleased tracks from that era. Remastered from the original master tapes, the package also includes photos and extensive liner notes from the friends, collaborators, and the band themselves.
Artist:Robert Logan
Title:Inscape
Label:Slowfoot Records
Slowfoot Records are proud to present the follow up to Robert Logan's acclaimed debut album "Cognessence". For his second album "Inscape" Logan brings us deeper into dark and brooding soundscapes, effortlessly conjured from an eclectic range of acoustic and electronic sources. Central to the album is the experience of stumbling on an abandoned factory that was becoming engulfed by forest in Hungary. This duel between nature and culture is played out in the tensions he sets up in his music, between the transcendent and the earthbound, the immense and the miniature. The journey begins with "Angels and Insects", encapsulating the tensions of duality, its counterpart is the penultimate track "Inscape" which moves restlessly in search of its key centre - as if it were nearly impossible to express or even locate where our own 'Inscape' - our true identity or essence might lie. Between these ambitious poles the black humour of "Accurate Spit Boy" pulls us back into the absurdity of the everyday, "Ultraflux" is an urban walkabout through grit and grime. The closing track "Jehova Rapha" suggests that the after-image of our struggle to make sense of the times we live in, might indeed prove to bb some sort of epiphany after all. At just 21 years of age, Logan is a precocious talent. Championed last year by Mary-Anne Hobbs (who has been playing tracks from the new album on her show).
Artist:Junji Masayama
Title:Green Circle EP
Label:Bearfunk
Melbourne based Junji Masayama swerves his debut Bearfunk release flying in from leftfield in the guise of his 'Green Circle' EP. It's a fine four tracker for which the adjective 'eclectic' was surely made. Smatterings of disco sensibilities, bleepy house, deep groove & squelching synths. Green Circle leads the pack with all its underground rhythms and chunky synths. Monotone Radio is a drum led wonk soundscape whilst Sponge Feet is one for the more uptempo alternative disco floors. Oyster rounds things off with more eclectic beats and disco-firefly darting keys. One for the varied tapestry that is Bearfunk.
Artist:Luke Vibert
Title:Rhythm
Label:Sound Of Speed
Luke Vibert goes back to his hip hop roots with his fantastic new CD for Tokyo based label, Sound Of Speed. With many classic releases on such seminal labels as Ninja Tune, Warp, Rephlex, Rising High, Mo Wax and others under an array of alias's (Wagon Christ, Kerrier District, Plug), there is no need to introduce the man! On his latest album "Rhythm" Luke explores wonky instrumental hip hop beats perfect for all beat junkies, head nodders and of course straight-up Vibert fans. With the current trend for all things beat science, Luke's latest production should hit the spot.

Artist:Aphex Twin
Title:Selected Ambient Works Vol II
Label:Warp
This ambient double album by Richard D. James under his Aphex Twin moniker, was originally released in 1994. It is a follow-up to 1992's Selected Ambient Works 85-92. Volume II differs significantly from the first volume in the series, in that the first volume is mostly beat-oriented, with complex instrumental rhythmic patterns and heavy bass frequencies. In contrast to the fast, club-inspired ambient music of its predecessor, Volume II consists of slow, moody pieces. Richard D. James has stated in interviews that the sounds in this music were inspired by lucid dreams, and that upon awaking, he would attempt to re-create the sounds and record them. He claimed that he has natural synaesthesia, which contributed to this album.
Artist:Bonobo
Title:Between The Lines / Recurring (Remixes)
Label:Ninja Tune
Bonobo returns with and bring out the soul-jazz side of the original track with lighter, shuffling drums and an increased emphasis on baritone sax and flute. New York's Mice Parade, on the other hand, use the cello theme from 'Recurring' and build it into a signature (and awesome) guitar-drone catharsis.

Artist:Alex Tronic
Title:To Infinity
Label:Alex Tronic Records
The critically acclaimed Scottish label Alex Tronic Records celebrates its tenth cd album release with the debut for his own label by founder Alex Tronic, otherwise known as music producer Paul Croan. Paul has previously released under the pseudonym Alex Tronic on labels which include Koyote, Peyote and Cherry Red. He has also scored music for film and TV. 'To Infinity' is a ten track album of uptempo modern electronica which includes several guest appearances from some of the label's other artists. Most of the album is in a dance music vein with guitar performances supplied mainly from Erik Tricity, a pal of Alex Tronic who fronts Scots filth rockers Metal Tech.
Artist:Odd Nosdam
Title:T.I.M.E. Soundtrack
Label:Anticon
Right from the start of "Zone Coaster" it's easy to imagine eloquently spinning, slow-motion skateboards and ruggedly graceful landings in perfect synch with this latest collection of Odd Nosdam tracks. Created to soundtrack the Element Skateboards film 'This Is My Element', the spliced together hip-hop beats were inspired by the board styles on display from the featured skaters they back. Many sounds get showcased, but the overriding mood is subdued and confident. Fourteen-year-old prodigy Nyjah Huston is the influence for "Top Rank" and he's paired with a complex grower built from bits of dub, laid-back guitar and eastern instrumentation. There's a back-roads vibe to the Brent Atchley-matching "Fly Mode" while "Cop Crush" accurately goes heavy and ominous for Bam Margera. Aggressive moments like the seek-and-destroy rhythm of the Chad Muska-matched "Trunk Bomb" are countered by the disarmingly ethereal "Root Bark" composed for Mike Barker and "One for Dallas" his mischievously charming pairing for Levi Brown. The languid tempos come prestretched and tight with enough measured intensity to make even a long, hard fall look slowed down and elegant. Review from Noah Levine.
Artist:Squarepusher
Title:Numbers Lucent
Label:Warp
Squarepusher follows his acclaimed album 'Just a Souvenir' with a frantic, beat-driven six track EP. This EP is a harder, beat-driven, dance-based collection than the album - one for the forward thinking dancefloor!
Artist:Little Dragon
Title:Twice Remix EP
Label:Peacefrog
Little Dragon continue to enthral all that discover their original blend of soul, pop and electronica. The lead and most recommended track on Little Dragon's self titled debut album gets the remix treatment from BBE's own Aaron Jerome. Already a favourite of Zane Lowe before the promos have even been pressed, Aaron's epic wind down future classic is tipped as the next track to steal the chill out crown from Sebastian Tellier's 'La Ritournelle' and will appeal to fans of Zero 7, Mr Scruff and Nightmares On Wax. On the flip you'll find the original with a tough grindcore-esque peak time performer from Blood Or Money.
Artist:Lukid
Title:Foma
Label:Werk Discs
After completing a thoroughly uninspiring music technology course in Leeds, a despondent Luke Blair returned to North London with some big decisions to make. Instead, he avoided them and immersed himself in a world of daytime TV, late-night beat-making, and 24-hour existential dread. Inspired by obsessions with artists such as Can, Madlib, Theo Parrish and Autechre, thus Lukid was born, spending many a lonely night hunched over his midi keyboard, layering up wonky beats and squeezing out woozy chords. In 2007 Lukid released his astonishing debut album 'Onandon', made up of the kind of Rubik's Cube compositions that twist in a broad spectrum of elements to manipulate hip-hop founded electronics from dust-encrusted loops, lazer-tag beats and sea-sick rhythms, built with equal parts Cologne minimalist machine-click techno and the low swing of Detroit's latter-day mix of cross-pollinated hip-hop, soul and house, Lukid's mature, complex and intricately plotted instrumentals unfold with slow-burning textured detail, sometimes recalling the gravelly disposition of early DJ Shadow, yet it's his grace, sample dexterity and excess of panache that pitch this artist oceans away from the weary blunted brigade. When a producer is able to deliver an epic widescreen vision while at the same time maintaining his "A" game, that should be cause for celebration, and Lukid has been rightly feted on boards and blogs ever since the release of 'Onandon'. And now to 'Foma', a second story which introduces a darker insight into his crumbling environs, a haunting tale of deep south conversations with a Studio One foundation. In a world where artists' influences can appear paradoxical or sometimes completely unrelated, Lukid hammers the sounds of his together into a single sheet of incredibly intriguing electronic music. You won't already need to be in love with the languorous beat constructions of Madlib, Dabrye, Flying Lotus, Samiyam and their like to find yourself gently but emphatically knocked flat back by 'Foma', before being comprehensively stretched into a series of new sensual shapes.

Title:I Am The God Of Hell Fire
Label:Very Friendly
A continous exploration into the sounds and styles which fascinate him most, flirting with jungle, rave, metal, dancehall and gabber, in no particular order. One of the forerunners in the Breakcore genre, reaching a point where sampling and a diverse musical taste have fused creating the ultimate hardcore maniac's playlist .On 'I am the God of Hellfire!' the 'amen' has been given a well deserved break, and focus has been put on his trademark rave stabs and catchy haunting melodies, proving that downtempo can be as suffocating and sinister as uptempo BPMs. A host of vocalists like ex-ATR's Hanin Elias, Drop The Lime, Mike Redman and Ras Bumpa have contributed to make this nothing less than an classic in its genre, the detail in the production has given Bong-Ra's third full length album a mature, accesible sound, creating more space in which to unleash his demonic riffing, Jason Kohnen, the sonic schizo behind Bong-Ra since 1996, brings a new dimension in hardcore breakbeat territory, pitching vocals ruffer than SL2 and dropping heavier kicks than Humanoid... or maybe its just the record The Prodigy wish they had made ???

Number 5 in the All City Beat series, this 45 on 33 comes from French beat maker Len?ko (aka Le Neko) - unfamilar to most, no doubt, but trust us on this one! He says: "I do the beats my mind and fingers let me do." We say: A double A with two slices of bumping broken French fonk from the Lyon-based producer who has been making some noise online over the last couple of years via myspace and Ampsoul Radio. He has recently produced a track for Maspyke MC Hanif Jamyl, but this is his first solo vinyl release

With his twelfth album, Tom Jenkinson takes even a further departure from his staple Squarepuher sound of broken beats atop slapped bass and twisted triggers of the Amen Break. Warp's own store, Warpmart, categorizes the album as "Drum and Bass / Breakcore / Electronica", but nothing could be further from the truth! (kind of misleading actually). Just A Souvenir is more in the realms of experimental rock and future jazz, with a touch of electronic treatment and a few very tasteful drills, where Jenkinson continues evolving (as a true musician should) in his experimentation with abstract accompaniment of acoustic instruments (mostly his custom built 6 string bass guitar once again) and drums that effortlessly morph between organic and digital. With Just A Souvenir, Jenkinson introduces an element of early garage rock, with vocoder and all, and reminds us once again of his amazing instrumentalist skills.

Title:Cottage Industries 5
Label:Neo Ouija
After a three-year hiatus, 'Diaspora : Cottage Industries 5' marks the return of the pioneering electronic music label Neo Ouija. Renowned for its critically acclaimed album releases and the Cottage Industries compilation series, Neo Ouija now offers a glimpse of things to come. Much time and consideration went into selecting 30 tracks by an international cast of musicians to celebrate the label's relaunch, resulting a massive double CD set that plots an epic journey through contemporary electronic music. The first disc surprises with a flurry of melodic techno, yet despite this change of pace, the vibe remains true to the label's trademark blend of melodic grooves and widescreen soundscapes. Whether it's Move D's machine-funk-opus 'Spacerckr' or the sun-drenched dub of 'Dpoles' by Fluxion (Chain Reaction), the music on C.I.5 oozes with character while effortlessly taking Neo Ouija's sound to the next level. The second disc showcases the playful side of the label, with their own version of braindance blissfully finding a balance between intricate rhythms and atmospheric sound design. In addition to exclusive tracks by old friends of the label like Maps And Diagrams, Sense and Seven Ark, the compilation also features unreleased material by Kangding Ray (Raster-Noton) and NQ (Kitty-Yo, Progressive Form). 'Diaspora: Cottage Industries 5' manages to bring musicians together in unexpected ways, and that's just one of the reasons why it's great to have Neo Ouija back among us. Neo Ouija was founded by Lee Norris (aka Metamatics, Norken and Nacht Plank) in 2000 and released more than thirty records until the end of 2005. With influences ranging from Detroit Techno to modern classical music, the releases on Neo Ouija always shared a melancholic, yet playful vibe. Over the years, Neo Ouija released critically acclaimed debut-albums by artists like Xela, Sense, and Deru. Other musicians that have released on Neo Ouija include Apparat, Funckarma, and Metamatics + Clatterbox. After a three year hiatus Neo Ouija now returns, under new management, but the mission remains the same : to release music they care about without chasing after passing fads. Full line-up : MXM, Move D, Tilman Ehrhorn, Remote_, Pridon, Plexus Instruments, Deer, Dimitar Dodovski, Fluxion, A Made Up Sound, a.k.a.Dings, Relapxych.0, Sense, Build Buildings, Kangding Ray, Benjamin Brunn, Maps And Diagrams, Fell, Soundhacker, Palac, Climnoizer, Seven Ark, Room, NQ, Andrey Kiritchenko, Honey Sacrifice, Nacht Plank and Shintaro Aoki.

Title:Interviews & Interludes EP
Label:Cookshop Music
Cookshop, acclaimed Brighton based label for all things electronic and experimental, are proud to present the debut EP from a new prodigious talent, the enigmatic Zoon Van Snook. A passion for genre-spanning melody, field recordings, found sound and electronics combined with the utility of guerrilla techniques has spat ZVS face first into the sphere of criticism in the creation of affably sinister sonic sketches and ambionic audio montage.

Title:Plumes / Blinkende Stjerne
Label:Immerse Records
"Plumes" follows, and adopts a machine funk meets deep house template. Frighteningly original, this track is a testament to the joys of fusion within electronic music and evokes memories of Detroit or Sheffield in their music heyday. Finally, Kontext rounds off the release with "Blinkende Stjerne" a walk into the extremely fertile techno-dubstep crossover territory which sidesteps cliche throughout to become a genuinely fascinating listen.

Title:Falling To Weightlessness / Aeromonarchs Attacks
Label:Immerse Records
With no genre classification standing in his way, Kontext delivers four tracks of bass-led electronica for Immerse over 2 discs. Kicking things off is the beautiful "Falling To Weightlessness", a skittering melodious foray into the lighter side of what is known as dubstep. Still maintaining a slightly sinister edge, this track is the epitome of balance with music as it walks a tightrope of emotion. Next up is the incredibly detailed "Aeromonarchs Attack", an intricate yet minimalist view of machine led dub. Subtle clicks and atmostpherics ride atop an undulating broken groove to create an absorbing, consuming track which begs for re-listens.
